Description
Vintage knitted doily, clam-shaped 1970s
In the 1970s, the glory days of the doily took place. All the grandmothers and aunts used to weave using their crochet hooks in order to create doilies for the girls’ dowry; doilies that would decorate any surface in the Greek traditional homes; doilies that would be placed on the television-a magical device that, on the touch of a button, you could see and listen to strangers being inside your home. This particular doily has been decorating the table of our living room for several years. Accompanied with a vase in the center of it, it was very impressive for the time being, I have to say. One more thing- when the television was settled at the houses, the living rooms were renamed sitting rooms.
